Course Content
Have you ever wondered why people fall for online scams, why hackers target networks, or why cyber security experts use coding to stop them?
On this innovative and practical course, you will learn about computer networks, secure systems and data, ethical hacking and computer programming using industry standards and best practices.
This course will be a mix of practical and theoretical learning. Subjects include:
- Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing.
- Digital Forensics
- Data Security
- Networking and Network Security
- Computer Programming
- Teamworking
Teaching is 16 hours per week over 3 days based at Gardyne Campus.
Entry Requirements
Four National 5 qualifications at A or B and 1 Higher in a STEM subject (C or above).
or
Foundation Apprenticeship in IT Software Development and Four National 4 qualifications at A or B
or
Progression from SCQF Level5/6 Computing college course passing all credits and B grade achieved in Computing Project.
or
Mature applicants with relevant experience are assessed individually for suitability.
Completion of a strong personal statement explaining your interest in the course. You may be invited for an interview to make sure this is the right course for you. All applicants may also be asked to provide a reference
Method of Assessment
• Each subject has continuous assessment, which may include multiple choice quizzes, written reports, presentations, coding or forensic analysis.
• End of Year Graded Unit Exam.
Future Prospects
Upon successful completion of this program, you can seamlessly transition to the HND programme in Cyber Security.
Further pathways to relevant degree programs are also possible, offering excellent career prospects in the realms of Cyber Security, Computing, and Technology sectors.
