HNC Applied Sciences
Course Content
This course covers a wide range of theoretical aspects of chemistry and biology relevant to future study or a career in Life Sciences. In addition to developing knowledge in Life Sciences, this programme also offers the opportunity to develop practical and research skills. These are relevant for working within industry, and provides experience in modern laboratory techniques such as PCR and gel electrophoresis.
HNC Applied Sciences acts as excellent preparation for progression towards further study at university or employment.
Entry Requirements
At least two SQA passes at Higher level C or above, one of which should be Higher Chemistry, Higher Biology or Higher Human Biology. Maths at National 5 level is also required.
Method of Assessment
End of unit assessment or by the completion of course work. There will be no end of course assessment but continual assessment throughout the year.
Learners will submit a graded unit, this grade will determine entry to university.
Future Prospects
Successful completion of this course would allow progression to study a range of science degrees at university.
