SWAP Access to Nursing
Course Content
This course is designed to prepare you to enter higher education. It covers a variety of care-related units, core skills and the opportunity to experience and learn practical skills.
Learners will have an opportunity to study various subjects, including Human Development, Care Values and Principles, Social Influences, Mental Health and the Human Body.

Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications are required. A SWAP programme could be for you if you have been out of education for 3 years.
Selection will be based on a satisfactory personal statement, qualifications, and written exercise.
Applications will be reviewed on an individual basis.
Method of Assessment
Assessment methods include class activities, written reports, essays and closed book assignments.
Future Prospects
There are 2 clear progression routes from this course:
- You can apply straight to university. This course may lead to degree courses in adult, mental health and learning disability nursing or children's nursing.
- You can apply to HNC Healthcare Practice or HNC Social Services. You must achieve all units, a good attendance record and a positive reference. (HNC may lead to the university courses identified above).
Please note this course will not lead to Midwifery.
