Course Content

This course covers aspects including Physical Fitness (boot camp, water-based fitness, circuits, resistance & CV training), Adventure Activities (Mountain Biking, Hill Walking, etc.) Fitness Testing, Leadership, Teamwork and also Communications, Numeracy and ICT.

In addition, learners will develop their vocational knowledge and employability skills through the ongoing input of industry partners in the civilian and military services, which provides a unique insight into the real-life experiences of those working in the uniformed services.

Throughout the course, learners will be supported through the application process by various uniformed and emergency services.

Entry Requirements

During the interview, in a one-on-one or small group setting, applicants will be asked to describe their experience, interests, knowledge, and skills relevant to their desired career in the emergency services or uniformed services. They must demonstrate their ability, understanding, and commitment to succeed.

Fitness tests will be conducted to assess the fitness levels of all applicants. Details regarding fitness testing will be provided to applicants before the interview.

Method of Assessment

Assessments are integrated throughout with no formal exam at the end.

Future Prospects

Supports application to a range of services: Ambulance Service, Prison Service, Fire & Rescue Service, Police, Royal Navy, RAF, Army or Royal Marines. Progression may include a relevant Sports & Fitness course or HNC Police Studies, provided candidates hold one relevant Higher or NPA Level 6 Criminology, have fully completed Uniformed Services to a high academic standard, and receive positive references from all lecturers confirming suitability for Level 7 study.
