SVQ 3 Electrical Installation (SECTT)
Course Content
The Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust: Apprentice Training Scheme is studied over 4 years.
Stage 1: 17 weeks of block release. Skills learned will be both practical and theoretical e.g. health and safety; wiring systems and enclosures, installation regulations, etc.
Stage 2: 11 weeks of block release. Skills learned will be both practical and theoretical, based around an Electrical Installation project.
Stage 3: Site experience and one week of college, covering assessment of safe working practices, safe isolation, inspection, testing and commissioning of electrical installations.
Stage 4: Site experience. Site experience will be gained in-between college attendance.
Entry Requirements
Applicants require four National 5 subjects (or equivalent) at grade C or above. To become an Apprentice Electrician you will follow a Modern Apprenticeship and achieve an SVQ Level 3. You must be in full-time employment with an Electrical Contractor and register with SECTT for the Pre-Employment Assessment. See www.sectt.org.uk for further information.

Future Prospects
Successful completion can lead onto the HNC Electrical Engineering course.
