Swapping knowledge and skills with Sweden

Release Date: 24 October 2017

Dundee and Angus College is delighted to welcome visitors all the way from Gavle University in Sweden this week.

Richard Sweden 2
Swedish visitors (left to right) Peter Ekstrom, Daniel Akerblom, Kerstin Wood, and Joost van den Bosch with D&A College Project Leader Richard Faint.

The staff are here to meet with the English Speakers for Other Languages Department (ESOL) and the Customer Engagement Team.

As part of this Erasmus-funded programme, Gavle will be sharing knowledge, comparing best practice between the two organisations and investigating if there are any processes here in Scotland that could transfer to their own students in Sweden helping get them into employment that supports sustainable economic growth.

Alan Smith, ESOL course leader said: “Over four days our Swedish visitors will have the opportunity to observe ESOL classes, take part in Q&A sessions with students and staff, and sit in on the department’s English teacher training programme (CELTA). We hope this will be a positive professional and personal experience for all concerned.”

This is just one of many initiatives D&A College is involved with through Erasmus, helping its international network of partners to close the global skills gap and develop the workforce of the future.
