James Steele, of computing games industry giant, Nintendo, is welcomed to D&A College by lecturer, Pauline Belford.

Nearly 100 HNC computing games development students queued to hear James give a talk on ‘Optimisation’ – just a fortnight shy of the launch of the new Switch console.

James ran a question and answer session at the end of his address and was pleasantly surprised at the standard of inquiry he had to deal with from the students.

“I like to open the floor and talk to people on a more face-to-face level as this usually helps people open up – it certainly did today,” said the man from Nintendo.

D&A staff considered having a representative of the company which created Mario, Gameboy and Wii, a real coup as Nintendo do not run a programme of college visits.

James, who is normally based in Frankfurt, is actually in Scotland on other business but was quick to accept an invitation to D&A.

“I was actually at school with lecturer Pauline Belford so was happy to find the time to come to Gardyne Campus while I was back in Scotland,” said the speaker.
