On course for family fun Archive for 2017

Release Date: 17 June 2016

D&A College tutor Grant Adams, who took part in a national timber skills contest earlier this year, is softening his axeman approach as he aims to help families discover nature together at St Vigean’s Glebe, on the outskirts of Arbroath.

Grant Adams, showing his softer side, and (insert) a purple orchid, one of the rarer finds at St Vigean’s Glebe.

The land-based instructor, who cut his teeth on a chainsaw, is taking a one-day, family-friendly course in July as part of the college’s summer season of leisure activities.

Despite showing off the flora in the area, Grant is not entirely letting his blade skills go dull, as he will demonstrate how to make a rustic stool from dead wood so that little legs can have a rest as they explore the natural beauty of the area.

And those families taking part on Wednesday, July 6, will have to look sharp as the course also examines bugs and insects native to Angus.

And while participants might find something to eat on the way, Grant will also stress what to avoid!

Discover Nature is just one of a series of new family classes where adults and children can enjoy learning together offered by D&A College this summer.
