D&A Award Winners
Dundee and Angus College is extremely proud to be among the winners at the College Development Network (CDN) College Awards which recognises the talent, skills and achievements of colleges, their staff and learners. This annual event celebrates the innovation taking place in colleges across the country and showcases the impact the sector is having for learners, communities and the wider economy.
At the glittering ceremony at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow on Thursday 25 October, D&A College was awarded winner’s trophies in the Digital Learning and Essential Skills categories plus commended places in College Colleague of the Year, Employer Connections and Sustainability. And forget Bake Off, the icing on the college’s cake was picking up the CDN’s first ever Judges’ Award for its D&A Attributes programme.
This exciting initiative has been developed over the last three years and is designed to give learners the opportunity to access a whole range of life experiences that will broaden their horizons and expand their essential skills.
The college has worked closely with local employers to identify and nurture the attributes needed to develop successful and sought after students who can make a difference in the workplace. There are numerous ways this programme can encourage learners’ creativity and enthusiasm, from real-life working opportunities in retail, sport, theatre, restaurants and salons to helping create pop-up shops and fashion shows. It’s so much more than just a classroom experience.
Simon Hewitt, Vice Principal Curriculum & Attainment, says, “One of the main things that we pride ourselves on is the way in which we work with local employers and key partners for the good of our learners and the wider Dundee and Angus region. These awards are testament to the innovation that goes on every single day and they also recognise the excellent work of our passionate and dedicated staff right across the college.”
