Breakfast of kings at college Archive for 2016
Release Date: 16 June 2016
Traditionally hailed as the most important meal of the day, breakfast is served at D&A College and is fit for royalty.
Lord Provost Bob Duncan and Jamie Scott with the finalists
Kingsway Campus was the venue on Thursday, June 16, for “Breakfast Like a King” when, six primary four pupils took part in a competition, sponsored by The City of Dundee Burgess Charity, to create a healthy morning meal.
College staff paired down a pile of entries from schools across the city who submitted a range of recipes for an easy-to-make, healthy and cost-effective breakfast.
The successful entries offered a range of meals from vegetable and fruit smoothies to pancakes and milk shakes
The contest was staged in the training kitchens under the watchful eye of chef lecturer Russell Walker, and former college student Jamie Scott – a Masterchef: The Professionals winner, of the Newport Restaurant.
While judging a breakfast for a king Russell and Jamie were joined by the Queen’s representative in Dundee, Lord Provost Bob Duncan.
The pupils’ efforts had certainly to be healthy as the lord Provost has been on a very strict diet since suffering a mild stroke last year.
