Pupils enjoy trying out the new benches supplied by D&A College

A group of 14 students on the pathway to construction course at Kingsway Campus created six benches in three different sizes to fit teachers, senior pupils and infants at the Broughty Ferry primary school.

The pupils raised cash for the playground furniture and approached lecturer Alistair Butler, as they wanted the seating to be in different sizes.

“The school approached the construction and technology unit at D&A College in a bid to have the bespoke benches, rather than off-the-shelf, as it were,” explained Alistair.

“We were only too happy to help as it was an interesting project to engage the students.”

Alistair and his class worked on the benches for two days each week for a month but also managed to produce a four large planters for the school.
