Message for our students, Monday 20 April

We hope that you have managed to have a good April break, despite the difficult circumstances that we are all living in.

I am pleased to say that arrangements for most College students have now been agreed with the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). Other awarding bodies have yet to set out their plans, so we’ll update you as soon as we know.

Over the next few weeks, your teaching staff will be looking at the work you have already undertaken and the progress you have made on your course, to determine whether you have shown enough work to have passed. This approach is being called ‘holistic assessment’.

The decisions that your lecturers will make will be one of the following:

1. That you have already completed enough assessment work to pass the course. This means you will receive credit for all of the units in your course and you will be notified accordingly. For HN students this will include your graded unit, with the grade for this decided in the same way.

2. That you still need to do some more work before you can pass. If this is the case, your lecturers will be in touch with you to discuss with you how this work can be undertaken.

This will ensure that certificates can be awarded as normal over the summer. In the meantime, keep in touch with your teaching staff and for further details please look at the SQA website.

We are continuing to offer support and guidance so please get in touch:
