Message for our students, 7 October
Although it’s come quickly this year, the College October break takes place next week from Monday 12 to Friday 16 October.
During the break, we strongly encourage you to stay engaged with your learning and complete any work set. Please remember your lecturers are on holiday during this time so will not be able to respond to messages until the following week.
Studying, Help and Support
Study Zones at Gardyne Campus will be available from 9am to 4pm from 12-16 October, though not at other campuses. You can book to use the Gardyne Study Zone in the holiday week by emailing email@example.com or by calling 01382 834813.
You can contact a range of other teams during the break:
- book an appointment to attend the drop-in guidance sessions on campus
- email firstname.lastname@example.org for any general guidance queries
- email email@example.com for additional support queries
- Visit the Learner Engagement Facebook page
- Online web chat: located in the bottom right corner of our website (live from 8:30-16:30, Mon-Fri).
COVID-19 Compliance and Restrictions
As you head for the break, please remember the existing COVID-19 measures in place outside College, and the new restrictions:
- No visiting other households indoors
- Hospitality venues like pubs and restaurants will be operating new rules and closure times
- 2m distancing and one-way systems will be reinstated in shops
If you are travelling abroad during the break, you must follow all guidance that applies regarding quarantine / self-isolation on your return.
If you can avoid travelling, the current guidance from the Scottish Government is that you should not travel abroad. The College is supportive of this position and would ask that if you’re considering travelling abroad, you fully consider the implications of any quarantine period on your studies at College.
If you do decide to travel and need to quarantine on your return, if your classes are delivered completely online, you should continue to engage in all classes during the quarantine period.
If you have some or all your classes on campus, you must not attend on campus classes until your quarantine period is completed.
You should let your lecturer/s know if you need to quarantine.
Remember if you experience COVID-19 symptoms at any point you should self-isolate and book a test. You can find out more about this on the NHS Inform website.
Walk-in Covid-19 Test Facilities
The mobile walk-in COVID-19 testing centre at Dudhope Castle will be available until Monday 19th October.
Any student who is displaying COVID-19 symptoms can access this mobile testing site.
You do not need to book, you can walk in any time between 10am and 5pm at Dudhope Castle, 3 Infirmary Brae, Dundee, DD3 6TU.
