Know your potatoes…

Forget ‘Little Red Tractor’, building a career in agriculture these days can involve state of the art technology, cutting edge research and multi-million pound investment.

The Agri team at D&A College work hard to make sure we’re training people to be ahead of the game. To this end the College is encouraging links with local agriculture businesses such as Agrico, one of the world’s leading developers and suppliers of high-grade potato seeds.

That’s why Gavin Prentice, one of their Procurement and Technical Managers is coming to the College this Friday, 6th November from 10 am to talk about his work and to inspire our students. He’ll be addressing students in person (socially distanced of course!) and online.

Gavin says, “Effective food production during these difficult times is more important than ever. My job manages to be challenging, interesting and diverse all at the same time. I would recommend it to any young person with an interest in agriculture.”

Gavin’s talk is one of a series organised by lecturer, Peter Beattie designed to introduce students to local agriculture businesses and the possibilities out there.
