SVQ Level 4 Health and Social Care Children and Young People
Comprises eight units (four mandatory and four optional). Mandatory units: Use and develop methods and systems to communicate, record and report; Contribute to the development and maintenance of healthy and safe practices in the working environment; Take responsibility for the continuing professional development of self and others; Develop practices which promote choice, well-being and protection of children and young people. Candidates are assessed in the work place and shall produce evidence demonstrating competence in the job role.
Candidates should be employed continuously for a minimum of 1 year in a Senior Supervisor or Management capacity, working at least 16 hours per week in a care setting. This award is designed to be applicable to staff who deliver physical, emotional, educational, social or enabling care to children and young people (8-18 years) who have a medium to high degree of dependency, whether they work in Health or Social Care in the public or private sector. Selection for the SVQ shall be by informal interview at College and if successful, candidates will attend an initial induction session.
This qualification leads to a nationally recognised certificate in care and is accepted for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
