SVQ Level 4 Social Services (Children and Young People)

Course Content

This is a work-based qualification and all evidence produced must be in relation to the individual's job role and responsibility. The award is made up of eight units, four of which are mandatory. Mandatory units: Maintain effective communication systems and practice; Lead practice for health and safety in the work setting; Take responsibility for the continuing professional development of yourself and others; Lead practice that promotes the safeguarding of children and young people. In addition to the above, four further units must be chosen from a number of optional units.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be in employment for a minimum of 16 hours per week (paid or voluntary) with a minimum of 1 year's experience. The course will provide evidence of an individual's competency in all aspects of managing/supervising Children and Young People Services. Candidates must have a sound understanding of The Health and Social Care Standards, Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice, Guidance and Frameworks, legislation and work place policies and procedures. Selection for the course will be by interview.

Continuous assessment/e-portfolio.

Recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for registration requirements.
