VTCT SVQ in Barbering
Course Content
Would you like to have an exciting and rewarding career in Barbering? This course will provide the knowledge, skills and understanding to be a junior barber in a realistic salon environment. Units include; Basic cutting, cutting facial hair, Dry & Finish Men's Hair, with an element of male grooming. This qualification is based on the Barbering National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK's leading barbering association and professional hairdressing body.
Entry Requirements
Level 1 VTCT qualification in Hairdressing and/or relevant industry experience. A minimum of two National 4/NPA/equivalent qualifications is recommended but not essential. For applicants for whom English is not their first language then ESOL at SCQF Level 5 is required as excellent communication skills are needed. Enthusiasm for Barbering and a creative ability would be an advantage. A reference may be required.
Method of Assessment
Online quizzes, assignments and exams will take place throughout the course and skills are assessed by direct observation on clients, family and friends. Continuous research and self-study will also be required to successfully complete this course.
Future Prospects
Progression onto a Level 3 Barbering course and/or employment as a Junior Barber in a commercial salon or self-employment.
