VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Womens Hairdressing
Course Content
Specifically designed to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare learners for employment as a junior hairdresser/stylist. Learners will have their hairdressing skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment. This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior hairdresser/stylist including: Health and Safety; Client Consultation; Shampoo and Conditioning Hair; Researching Working in the Hair Industry; Cut Women's Hair; Colour and Lighten Hair and the Art of Dressing Hair. Learners who complete this qualification are eligible to become a graduate State Registered Hairdresser (SRH) with The Hairdressing Council.
Entry Requirements
Level 1 VTCT qualification in hairdressing and/or relevant industry experience including two National 4/equivalent qualifications but not essential. For applicants where English is not their first language then ESOL at Intermediate 2 is required as excellent communication skills are needed. Enthusiasm/motivation for the Hairdressing Industry and a creative ability is an advantage. You may be invited to a group information session, online interview and potentially complete a skills test. A reference may be required.
Method of Assessment
Skills are assessed by direct observation. Online exams/open book assessments will take place throughout the course. Research will also be required.
Future Prospects
Progression onto a Level 3 Hairdressing course and/or employment in a wide variety of industries as a Junior Hairdresser.
