VTCT Level 2 Award in Nail Technology
This vocational qualification prepares learners to enter the beauty therapy industry and work effectively as a nail technologist/nail technician. Throughout this course you will develop knowledge and understanding in a range of areas including anatomy and physiology needed for a nail technician and health and safety in a salon. You will also develop and perfect a range of technical skills including nail preparation, manicures, polish techniques and application of acrylic nail extensions. Interpersonal skills will be developed on an ongoing basis, which will assist with effective client communications.
To apply for this course you must have a minimum of 2 SCQF Level 5 qualifications or equivalent. A satisfactory reference may be required. A kit will need to be purchased to be able to undertake this course, you will be advised of this at the time of acceptance of any offer. For applicants for whom English is not their first language then ESOL at SCQF Level 5 is required as excellent communication skills are needed.
Method of Assessment
Online quizzes, assignments, and exams will take place throughout the course and skills are assessed by direct observation. Continuous research and self-study will also be required to successfully complete his course.
To gain employment as a nail technician in a nail/beauty salon or to be able to work on a self-employed basis. You will be able to gain insurance for these industry qualifications to be able to work safely.
