SQA Modern Apprenticeship in Hairdressing SVQ Level 2
This work-based qualification allows individuals to gain an industry-recognised qualification and develop the skills required to become a professional in a hairdressing environment. Training is provided in the workplace to prepare learners to have their hairdressing skill assessed within a salon environment. Completion of this qualification will enable applicants to work effectively as a junior hairdresser/stylist. Units include: Colour and Lighten Hair; Style and Finish Hair; Set and Dress Hair; Cut Hair Using Basic Techniques; Shampoo and Condition Hair and Scalp; Advise and Consult with Clients; Health and Safety; Develop and Maintain Effectiveness at Work and Fulfil Salon Reception Duties.
Candidates must be working in a salon for a minimum of 2 months prior to the commencement of the programme. Candidates are required undertake work-based learning/assessment throughout their qualification.
Method of Assessment
Learners will follow a work-based assessment programme in order to achieve the Level 2 MA in Hairdressing.
Progression to SQA Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in Hairdressing or a college-based qualification i.e. VTCT level 3 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing.
