SVQ Level 2 Amenity Horticulture

Course Content

This course runs for up to 18 months, part-time, one day a week. This gives students time to complete Pa1 and Pa6 spraying certificates and emergency first aid. This may incur additional costs if a student is not on our Modern Apprentice programme.


Areas of study include:

·        Health & safety

·        Establishing and Maintaining Plants

·        Lawn care, Machinery

·        Plant Protection Identification


Dates: A rolling programme with no fixed start or end date.

Commitment: 6 hours with a lecturer, one day per week.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must to be employed within horticulture or a related industry and must have the ability to work at SCQF level 5 or above.

Method of Assessment

This course is made up of 11 units and is continually assessed throughout the year both at the learner’s workplace and in college by completion of an online portfolio.

Future Prospects

Most learners progress onto SVQ Level 3 Parks, Gardens and Open Spaces with a view to gaining full-time employment.
