Introduction to Beauty Therapy (VTCT Level 1 Diploma)

Course Content

This course provides an introduction to practical beauty therapy skills and prepare learners for further study. Units include: Improving the Appearance of the Hands and Feet with Basic Manicure and Pedicure Techniques; Cleansing; Toning and Moisturising Treatments; How to Give Advice on Skin Care and Basic Day Make-Up Application. To further enhance skills, artistic and creative elements such as nail art, themed face painting and photographic make-up will also be covered. Learners will develop knowledge and understanding of health and safety and the skills required to support employment in the beauty therapy industry such as salon reception duties, presenting a professional image and working with others. 

Entry Requirements

To apply for this course you must have a keen interest in beauty therapy. Selection is based on a group information session, skills test and individual interview. A satisfactory reference is required. Enthusiasm and motivation for the beauty industry is an advantage.

Method of Assessment

Learners will be assessed through observation and open and closed book examinations. Research may be required to ensure knowledge requirements are met.

Future Prospects

Progression onto VTCT level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies.
