PDA in Sociology
Course Content
Studying Social Science can open the door to a range of courses and professional careers. This course introduces the foundations, historical and social context surrounding the development of Sociology. Theoretical knowledge is applied to a range of Sociological topics. Learners will be expected to study up to 3 hours in college as well as self-directed study of 8 hours per week. Learners studying individual PDA will be required to self-fund. Completion of a full HN qualification in Social Sciences may lead to entry for many related degree courses at university. These courses include Social Sciences, Psychology, Politics, History and Sociology.
Entry Requirements
As this course is at SCQF level 7 (first year undergraduate level) applicants are required to demonstrate an ability to work at this academic level. This can be through proven prior study, employment and workplace practice or through a diagnostic assessment undertaken at college prior to entry.
Method of Assessment
Combination of open and closed book assessment as required by SQA.
Future Prospects
Progression to other Social Science PDAs: Psychology, History and Politics which with additional units can lead to an HNC in Social Sciences.
