PDA in Politics
Develop your knowledge and understanding of political concepts and theories relevant to the relationship between the state and the individual. Learners will be expected to study up to 3 hours in college as well as self-directed study of 8 hours per week. Individual PDAs can be self-funded however, four PDAs (Psychology, Sociology, Politics and History) can be undertaken to achieve an overall HNC Social Sciences award over 2 years. Please see our HNC Social Sciences (Part Time Evening) for this option. HNC Social Sciences can allow entry to 1st or 2nd year of related undergraduate courses including: Social Sciences, Psychology, Politics, History, Archaeology, International Relations, Criminology, Law and Sociology.
As this course is at SCQF level 7 (first year undergraduate level) applicants are required to demonstrate an ability to work at this academic level. This can be through proven prior study, employment and workplace practice or through a diagnostic assessment undertaken prior to entry.
Method of Assessment
Combination of open and closed book as required by SQA.
Progression to other Social Science PDAs: Sociology, History and Psychology which with additional units can lead to an HNC in Social Sciences.
