NC Introduction to Horticulture

Course Content

This course offers a solid grounding in horticulture and landscaping with practical and theory lessons covering: plant propagation, tree and shrub establishment, grounds maintenance, brickwork, paving, machinery use and maintenance.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course but good reading, writing and numeracy skills are essential. Applicants will be invited to an interview where they must demonstrate a real passion for plants and the environment and have a desire to develop and create landscape features. Individuals with relevant experience, but few academic qualifications, are welcome to apply.

Method of Assessment

While the course is mainly practical there is a theoretical element that is continuously assessed throughout the year. There is no end of year assessment.

Future Prospects

Successful learners may wish to progress onto the NC Horticulture, Landscaping and Estates Level 5.
