NC Horticulture (Landscape)

Course Content

This course is highly practical, but with a theoretical element which is continuously assessed throughout the year. It comprises of 12 credits plus 3 core skills. This course is highly plant orientated with subjects including plant propagation, seed sowing and soft landscaping using trees and shrubs. Suitable for a possible career in garden maintenance or working in a garden centre or nursery. 

Entry Requirements

NC Introduction to Horticulture level 4 programme, however, applicants with other relevant experience and a genuine interest in the industry will be considered. Reading, writing and numeracy skills essential along with qualifications that show an ability to work at SCQF level 5.

Method of Assessment

Course assessment is by observation of practical tasks, written assignments and garden design projects. Assessment is ongoing throughout the year.

Future Prospects

Successful learners may wish to progress onto the City & Guilds Diploma in Horticulture. Possible self-employment.
