Course Content

This course provides the knowledge and skills required for future employment as a technician within the construction sector. Units covered include Introduction to Environmental Building Science; Modern Methods of Construction; Construction Project Management; Structural Concepts; and Mechanics for Construction.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of an NPA Construction related course or two National 5 subjects (or equivalent) at grade C or above, preferably in Maths and a Science. A flexible learning programme of study is also available where learners can attend the college while employed as a technician within a related discipline. Applicants who do not meet these criteria, but have relevant industry-related experience, will be considered at the discretion of the Curriculum & Quality Leader.

Method of Assessment

This programme is assessed through the submission of written reports, ongoing course assessment and a project.

Future Prospects

Employment opportunities in the built environment sector. Progression to full-time HN construction related programmes.
