National 5 Mathematics
Covers many different topics including algebraic operations, indices, surds, trigonometry, quadratics and functions. Comprising three units with an external exam in May. The course can be delivered during the day or evening (one session per week) at either Gardyne or Arbroath Campus or by distance learning. Our distance learning course will be split into 2 parts - Preparation for National 5 Mathematics (Aug-Jan) and National 5 Mathematics (Jan-May) - learners must progress and achieve on the Preparation course to be allowed entry to part 2.
Standard Grade Mathematics at 3 or Intermediate 1 Mathematics (C10010) at Grade A or Intermediate 2 Mathematics (C10011)/National 5 (C74775) at Grade D or above or National 4 Mathematics (C74774). Entry to the course may also be subject to successful completion of a diagnostic test and one-to-one interview.
Method of Assessment
Internal assessment and external exam. All learners must achieve a satisfactory mark in the prelim exam in order to be presented for the final exam.
Required for all primary and secondary teaching courses, many Engineering courses and some Social Work courses. Also sought after by employers and Higher Education institutions.
