National 5 English
Provides learners with the opportunity to develop the skills of listening, talking, reading and writing in order to understand and use language. A range of non-fiction and quality literature are used to develop skills of understanding, analysing and evaluating. Learners will develop the skills to produce communications in different styles and formats, including written and spoken language. Learners are expected to be able to commit to a minimum further 3 hours of self study every week, to embed learning and fulfill course work requirements throughout the year.
National 4 English or equivalent. Entry to this course is at the discretion of the college. Some applicants will be required to pass a diagnostic test and short interview to confirm suitability for the programme. The distance learning programme is delivered online via the college's online learning platform, My Learning. Distance learning students are expected to have access to a computer with a camera, sound and headphones.
Method of Assessment
Internal coursework, a spoken language unit, externally assessed portfolio and end exam. A satisfactory prelim mark must be achieved in order to sit exam
Higher English, further study, employment or training.
