National 5 Applications of Mathematics

Course Content

National 5 Applications of Mathematics is a flexible course with a choice of delivery methods to suit you. The course will be delivered in our Gardyne Campus each week, one night per week from 6pm - 9pm. You can also join this class online or work independently as a distance learner.

You will have access to all the materials regardless of study method and there will be weekly check tests for everyone to monitor progress.

You will be expected to be on campus for unit assessments and prelims.

This course covers many different topics including finance, statistics, numeracy and geometry.

Entry Requirements

  • National 4 Mathematics or National 4 Application of Mathematics
  • Entry to the course may also be subject to the successful completion of a diagnostic test

Method of Assessment

Three closed book unit tests over the course of the year and a prelim that will take place in February. Learners must achieve a satisfactory mark in the prelim exam to sit the final exam.

Future Prospects

May be required for progression to university for some Social Work courses.  It may also be accepted for some PGDE courses, however please check first with the relevant university.
