Introduction to Social Sciences

Course Content

If you are curious about the world around you, how people think and act as individuals and as members of society, then this level 4 course is for you. This course introduces you to a wide range of Social Sciences subjects including Psychology, Sociology, History and Geography. In this course, you will also develop skills that are essential for study and employment such as ICT and communications. Progression to Certificate/Level 5 study at D&A will depend on successful completion of all units, performance, attendance and reference.

Entry Requirements

Prior qualifications are not necessary however, applicants should have a proven interest in Social Sciences and/or relevant work/life experience. A strong personal statement in application is required.

Method of Assessment

A range of assessment methods such as project work, course work, posters and presentations are used.

Future Prospects

Guaranteed interview for Certificate in Social Sciences (level 5) subject to satisfactory achievement of all units and a strong course academic reference and personal statement. Progression onto other level 5 courses at D&A may be possible based on performance.
