Introduction to Life Sciences
Course Content
This is a short, four week course that will introduce the basics of Human Biology, Microbiology and Chemistry. You will study the underpinning knowledge of atomic structure, chemical bonding, cellular structure, DNA replication and aerobic respiration. You will also have the opportunity to develop practical skills which are relevant for progression onto a full-time course.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. This course is designed as an introductory course for students who have not previously studied Science.
Method of Assessment
There will be an end of course assessment and mandatory practicals throughout the course.
Future Prospects
Successful completion and demonstration of good attendance will allow progression onto Certificate in Applied Science. Eligible students can also progress onto SWAP Access to Life Sciences or Access to Physical Sciences.
