Introduction to Agriculture and Estates Skills
This programme prepares students for a career in agriculture and / or estate maintenance with a focus on practical skills. The learner will develop skills working with agricultural machinery, develop an understanding of farm maintenance, crop production and livestock relevant to local industry and become familiar with accident prevention and emergency procedures. PPE will be required and is provided to students eligible for bursary funding.
No formal entry requirements. A demonstration of enthusiasm for working in agriculture. Some applicants with no prior understanding or experience of the industry may wish to consider completing the Access to Landbased Industries programme prior to commencement of this programme.
Method of Assessment
A demonstration of practical skills and competence, a small number of written assessments and a short local agriculture project.
National Certificate in Horticulture. Agricultural programmes such as pre-apprenticeship or NC agriculture at other institutions.
