Higher Maths (Evening)
Course Content
The course will be split into 2 parts - Preparation for Higher Mathematics (August - January) and Higher Mathematics (Jan - May). Learners must progress and achieve on the Preparation course to be allowed entry to part 2.
- Distance learning (6-8 hours per week self-study) or
- One evening per week (6-9pm) plus 2-3 hours per week of self-study
- Tutor support
Topics covered include: calculus, vectors, trigonometry, polynomials, circles, logarithms & exponentials.
Entry Requirements
- National 5 Mathematics at Grade A or B
- Some applicants will be required to pass a diagnostic test
Method of Assessment
- Internal assessment and external exam (undertaken on campus)
- A satisfactory mark must be achieved in the prelim to be presented for the final exam
Future Prospects
A pass in Higher Mathematics can open up many opportunities for learners; it is often an essential pre-requisite for entry to university in many areas.
