Higher Applications of Mathematics
Course Content
The course enables learners to gain the recognised SQA National Qualification Higher Applications of Mathematics. It covers the following units: Mathematical Modelling; Statistics & Probability; Finance and Planning & Decision Making. The course will be split into 2 parts - Preparation for Higher Maths (Aug-Jan) and Higher Application of Maths (Jan-May). Learners must progress and achieve on the Preparation course to be allowed entry to part 2.
Entry Requirements
National 5 Mathematics or National 5 Applications of Mathematics at Grade A, Intermediate 2 Mathematics at A, Standard Grade Credit Mathematics at 1. Entry to the course may also be subject to successful completion of a diagnostic test and one-to-one interview.
Method of Assessment
Internal assessment & external exam (at college or SQA approved centre). Learners must achieve a satisfactory mark in the prelim exam to sit final exam.
Future Prospects
Progresses from National 5 Applications of Mathematics. It is a Level 6 Mathematics qualification. This course can be used for entry to university courses that ask for Higher qualifications as entry requirements.
