This course is designed as further study in Accounting and covers: advanced financial accounting; advanced management accounting; advanced spreadsheets; income and business taxation; auditing and law. It provides a qualification that can be used to gain employment and/or undertake further degree/professional study within Accounting. Articulation agreements exist with the University of Abertay and RGU, allowing direct entry into 3rd Year BA Accounting with Finance (full-time course). With this qualification, students are also eligible for direct entry into 3rd Year; BA Accounting with Finance (evening option) joint degree with the University of Abertay (subject to numbers).
Successful completion of 15 credits in year 1 of HNC Accounting along with a positive attitude, behaviour and commitment to the course and satisfactory attendance. In certain circumstances a reference may be requested from the group tutor.
Method of Assessment
Learners will complete a range of SQA units that are assessed by way of continuous assessment, graded units: project and end-of-year exam.
The course provides partial exemptions from AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting. This qualification will allow learners to go directly into the workplace, with exemptions being given at various levels (ACCA CIMA).
