This course will provide the learner with a broad knowledge of the Retail industry and the skills and qualities required for a diverse range of careers including: management/supervisory roles, systems/operations, stock management, visual merchandiser or buyer. Subjects include: Retail Environment; Stock Presentation; Visual Merchandising; Digital Imaging; Retail Operations; Recruitment, Selection and Induction; Retail Law; Customer Experience; Principles of Retail Buying; Graded Unit. The retail industry is growing and adapting and this course reflects the changing face of retail and the new digital era.
Applicants should have at least one Higher at C level or above or a relevant NQ/NC Award with at least 12 units. Applicants will attend an interview and undertake a written exercise to determine their suitability for the course. Relevant industry/life experience or other qualifications will also be considered.
Method of Assessment
Each unit will be continually assessed through end of unit assessments or by the completion of course work. No end of course assessment or exam.
Employment in related careers or progression to HND Retail Management, followed by progression to 3rd year (BA Hons) degree programmes at various Scottish universities.
