Health Care Academy

Course Content

This course provides 6 weeks full-time pre-employment training, which aims to equip people with the essential skills to allow them to apply for essential support service jobs across the care sector. During the time spent in college you will experience and learn about:

  • Care Values
  • Basic IT Skills
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Food Hygiene (REHIS accredited)
  • Infection Control (REHIS accredited)
  • Manual Handling (OHSAS)
  • Visits to NHS Services
  • Guest Speakers

Entry Requirements

The Dundee Healthcare Academy is a partnership between Dundee and Angus College, NHS Tayside and the Department of Work and Pensions. All applicants must be currently unemployed and subject to an eligibility check with their local Jobcentre Plus Office. If you are interested, please contact your local Jobcentre. Applicants must attend an information session held at Dundee and Angus College. Formal Interviews will be held.

Method of Assessment

Closed book assessment.

Future Prospects

Following successful completion of the course, all individuals will receive a guaranteed interview when they apply for an essential support service position in NHS Tayside, if they meet the job criteria.
