Health and Social Care Academy
This course focuses on skills and qualifications required to gain employment in the care sector and is delivered in partnership with Dundee City Council, NHS Tayside and the independent care sector. It includes various recognised mandatory certificates for employment within the care sector, Communications Level 6 and SVQ Level 2 in Social Services and Health Care, which is assessed whilst on placement with a partner organisation.
Successful completion of Certificate in Child, Health and Social Care Level 5 units, a minimum of 4 National 4s (including 2 academic subjects), 2 National 5 academic subjects or equivalent and/or previous experience in a relevant care setting. Applicants will have a personal interview for selection with College staff and a partner organisation as this programme involves a placement element within the care sector. Acceptable PVG.
Method of Assessment
Ongoing assessment of work practice for SVQ award. Practical skills performance, group work, presentation skills and formal written assessments.
Completion of the course may lead to learners gaining guaranteed interviews with NHS Tayside, Dundee City Council Social Work Department and Hillcrest Futures for the relevant level posts.
