HND Social Science
This HND builds on the knowledge gained from HNC Social Sciences in all core subject areas. Subjects may include Sociology, Psychology, History, Social Anthropology and Research Methods. Delivery is split between Arbroath and Gardyne campuses. Guidance and support with study and exam skills and UCAS applications are also provided. Graded Unit examination totalling 15 credits may allow for 3rd year articulation into various undergraduate degrees including at Abertay, RGU, Aberdeen, UHI, Stirling and the Open University. Employment opportunities include criminal justice work, research, teaching, public, private and third sectors, social and community workers, police and prison services.
Successful completion of HNC Social Science with at least 15 credits and B grade for final exam. Further selection on personal statement and reference.
Method of Assessment
Open and closed book exams, essays, presentations, academic posters, visual materials, co-operative learning, presentations and peer assessments.
May allow direct entry into 2nd or 3rd year of a wide range of undergraduate degrees including Social Sciences, Sociology, History, Politics, Social Anthropology, Psychology & Philosophy.
