HND Computing: Networking (Year 2)
Course Content
The HND Networking will provide you with advanced knowledge for a successful career in networking technology. The course provides a comprehensive range of knowledge and practical skills in configuring, designing, building and maintaining computer network infrastructures. It allows students to study towards up-to-date Vendor specific certifications in the skills that are in demand for many different types of career in Networking and Server. The course enables students to study for and gain a Cisco CCNA qualification over this 2 year programme. Delivery is on a full-time basis to include lectures, practical tutorials and self-study sessions.
Entry Requirements
Year 1
Four National 5 qualifications at A or B and two Highers including one in a STEM subject (C or above).
or
Foundation Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media or IT Software Development.
or
SCQF level 5/6 Computing College course achieving all units with B grade in Computing Project.
or
Mature applicants with relevant experience are assessed individually for suitability.
All applicants will be invited to a two-stage interview selection process. Suitable references required.
Year 2
Completion of all 15 credits on HNC. Subject to interview and suitable reference.
Method of Assessment
There are theoretical and practical aspects assessed throughout the year with a final exam in year 1 and a project at the end of year 2.
Future Prospects
The college has strong articulation agreements with a number of universities into a range of degree programmes. This course will also provide students with the skills for employment.
