HND Coaching and Developing Sport - Year 2

Course Content

This course focuses on building and applying the skills and knowledge gained within the HNC programme where learners will be expected to develop practical and coaching skills at an intermediate level. Practical activity is underpinned through a higher level of academic work within a range of subject areas relevant to sports coaching and development. Learners have the opportunity to visit and participate in a variety of sporting events and festivals and gain additional sports and fitness qualifications. 

Entry Requirements

HNC in Coaching and Developing Sport (15 credits). Satisfactory reference may be required. PVG Scheme Membership is a mandatory requirement for placement. 

Method of Assessment

Variety of assessments: practical performance, written assignments, presentations, portfolio, exams, placement & coaching delivery. 

Future Prospects

Successful completion could lead to 3rd year sports degree programmes at university (e.g. Abertay, RGU, UHI & OU). Career opportunities with private, local authority, national organisations within the industry.
