HND Building Surveying (Year 2)

Course Content

This course provides the knowledge required to pursue a career as a Building Surveyor within the construction industry. A whole range of vital industry skills are covered from building measurement, statutory control of buildings and surveying historic buildings to computer aided design, building maintenance management and the latest construction technologies. This HND will enable learners to achieve professional body recognition in particular, but not exclusively, from the Chartered Institute of Building.  

Entry Requirements

HNC in Built Environment, Architectural Technology, Building Surveying, Construction Management, learners who gain entry with this qualification may require a bespoke infill programme, so each application will be considered on an individual basis.

Applicants whose first language is not English should have a minimum ESOL Intermediate Level 2 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher for HNC/D courses.

Applicants who do not meet these criteria but have relevant industry-related experience will be considered at the discretion of the Curriculum & Quality Leader.  

Method of Assessment

Submission of written reports, ongoing course assessment and a graded unit project.

Future Prospects

Successful completion of the course could provide the opportunity for further studies relating to Building Surveying at degree level. 

This course has been designed to allow progression onto degree level courses through our established articulation agreements with partner universities.
