Course Content
This course provides the skills, knowledge and experience to develop a career within the Social Care sector. There is a mandatory work placement element with the requirement to complete SVQ level 3 units.
Part-time opportunity: for those already employed in a health or social care setting, there may be an opportunity to undertake this programme part-time in the evening with your employer's endorsement.
Entry Requirements
Two Highers at grade C or above and experience of working in a care setting (paid or voluntary) or successful completion of Advanced Certificate in Health and Social Care at SCQF level 6. Other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis. Selection will be made on a satisfactory personal statement and reference. Acceptable PVG. As a placement is involved, it is expected that applicants will have good health, wellbeing, and resilience to cope with the demands of care provision.
Method of Assessment
A range of assessment methods are used including projects, reports, essay writing and observation in the workplace.
Future Prospects
Degree level study or employment as a practitioner in a social care setting. This is a nationally recognised qualification and enables registration with the Scottish Social Services Council SSSC.
