HNC Sports Coaching and Development
Course Content
Covers multiple disciplines within the industry and facilitates the investigation of these topics in an academic manner at SCQF level 7. Areas covered include: Sports Coaching, Sports Development and a range of Sports Science topics. The course provides learners with an industry-recognised PDA qualification, and the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a professional within the sports industry in a variety of contexts. Learners have the opportunity to visit and participate in a variety of sporting events and festivals and gain additional sports and fitness qualifications.
Entry Requirements
Two appropriate Highers such as English, PE or a Science at C, equivalent academic achievement or successful progression from a relevant full-time sport course. Applications are also welcome from those holding alternative qualifications and/or relevant industry experience. Interview process: 1-1 interview, practical assessment, an extended written task and a reference may be required. PVG Scheme Membership is a mandatory requirement for placement.
Method of Assessment
Variety of assessments: practical performance, written assignments, presentations, portfolio, exams, placement & coaching delivery.
Future Prospects
Learners can progress directly into the HND in Sports Coaching and Development upon successful completion of 15 credits. Successful learners may also gain employment within the sport and fitness industry.
