Course Content
This course aims to develop knowledge of providing patient care. Learners will study the professional standards and the psychological and sociological aspects of care. They will gain a good understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body and the disease processes both mental and physical. A work placement will be undertaken.
This course will run in compliance with any current government COVID-19 guidelines. This may mean this course will run remotely.
Part-time opportunity: For those already employed in a health or social care setting, there may be an opportunity to undertake this programme part-time in the evening with your employer's endorsement.
Entry Requirements
Two Highers at grade C or above in relevant subject areas or equivalent. Successful completion of SCQF level 6 course. A qualification in biology, or evidence of study in Anatomy and Physiology, is advantageous. Suitable applicants will be invited to attend an information session. Selection will be made on a satisfactory interview, diagnostic test and a satisfactory reference. Maturity of individual would be desirable to undertake a placement however all applicants will be considered on an individual basis. Acceptable PVG.
Method of Assessment
Practical assessments & theoretical assignments (Additional assessments for entry into 2nd year university).
Future Prospects
Completion may allow progression to 1st or 2nd year undergraduate nursing degree programmes at university.
