HNC Built Environment
Course Content
This course provides the knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in construction management including site surveying, planning and building, the measurement for computer-aided design and learning about the latest construction technologies. This course will enable learners to achieve professional body recognition in particular, but not exclusively, from the Chartered Institute of Building.
A flexible learning programme of study is available for students to attend college whilst employed within a related discipline. Learners are required to be employed within a related discipline with relevant industry experience. Approval from your employer is required.
Entry Requirements
National Certificate in Built Environment, PDA certificate or one Higher (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, preferably in Maths or Science.
Applicants whose first language is not English should have a minimum ESOL Intermediate Level 2 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher for HNC/D courses.
Applicants who do not meet these criteria, but have relevant industry-related experience, will be considered at the discretion of the Curriculum and Quality Leader.
Method of Assessment
Submission of written reports, ongoing course assessment and a graded unit project.
Future Prospects
Progress to HND Architectural Technology Year 2, HND Construction Management Year 2 or a range of degree-level studies, in areas such as surveying, construction and project management.
