HNC Childhood Practice
Course Content
This course offers opportunities for you to advance your skills, knowledge and experience to develop a career within Childhood Practice. You will study a range of topics relevant to working with children and young people. Practical experiences are also an important element of the course. You can either use your employment or alternatively a placement organised by the College (these must be within the Early Years Sector). An acceptable PVG record check is required.
Entry Requirements
Two Highers at C grade or above, preferably English, plus experience of working with children or successful completion of a relevant SCQF Level 6 qualification, for example: NC Early Education and Childcare or Foundation Apprenticeship in Social Services Children and Young People. Applicants will be assessed on personal statement, qualifications, experience, reference and a written exercise.
Method of Assessment
Integrated assessments in a variety of formats including reports, audio/visual, graded unit, work experience portfolio and a workplace observation.
Future Prospects
Possible progression to PDA/HND Childhood Practice (SCQF Level 8) or employment at practitioner level. This programme meets the registration requirements for SSSC for Early Years Practitioner.
