HNC Care and Administrative Practice
This course aims to develop knowledge of providing patient care. Learners will study the professional standards and the psychological and sociological aspects of care. They will gain a good understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body and the disease process. A work placement will be undertaken.
Two Highers at grade C or above in relevant subject areas or equivalent. Successful completion of SCQF level 6 course. A qualification in biology, or evidence of study in Anatomy and Physiology, is advantageous. Suitable applicants will be invited to attend an information session. Selection will be made on a satisfactory interview, diagnostic test and a satisfactory reference. Maturity of individual would be desirable to undertake a placement however all applicants will be considered on an individual basis. Acceptable PVG.
Method of Assessment
Practical assessments, theoretical assignments, conference presentations. (Additional assessments for entry into 2nd year university.)
Completion may allow progression to 1st or 2nd year undergraduate nursing degree programmes at university. Opportunities for those who wish to work in NHS Theatres to undertake the HNC and the PDA Perioperative course.
