HNC Accounting
Course Content
This course is designed for learners wishing to pursue a career in Accounting or Finance. It provides an SQA qualification that can be used to gain employment or progress to further study in Accounting. The full-time course covers a range of units such as: Financial Accounting, Costing; Management Accounting and IT; IT Accounting Packages and Payroll. The part-time evening route consists of 12 SQA credits taken from the full-time route (over a two year period).
Entry Requirements
Minimum of two SQA Highers, Grade C or above, would be desirable and/or relevant work experience, successful completion of a relevant advanced certificate course or the Foundation Apprenticeship in Accounting (reference may be required). Applicants are subject to an interview and may be asked to complete a numerical/written piece of work and/or online core skills testing. Mature applicants who do not meet the academic qualifications for entry will be considered on the basis of relevant work experience.
Method of Assessment
Learners will complete SQA units that are assessed by way of continuous assessment, end of year exams and graded unit.
Future Prospects
Successful completion of HNC Accounting plus a positive attitude, behaviour, commitment and satisfactory attendance may allow progression to HND Accounting/AAT Diploma in Professional Accounting.
